guages

I have an 04 f250 with the 6.0 in it. I'm thinking of putting some reasonably priced guages in it. I want plug and play, will scanguage II do this for me? I'm looking mostly for eot, ect, tranny temp, and boost pressure. Thanks in advance for all replies and opinions.

yep. Advanced Auto for about $159 or buy on-line and pick it up at the store. Use coupon code trt30 and get a $50 discount on line only.

I did it 2-3 weeks ago, worked great! Then search scan gauge II here and get all the codes you need to program the thing for all the gauges you need.

Cornstar: Have a smartphone? There are nice apps for either Apple or Android: DashBoss for Apple (comes complete with adapter for $160ish), or Android buy Torque Pro ($4.95 for the app and another $10-15 for the adapter). Another option is to buy an Android tablet for $50 or so and then the ~$20 for app and adapter. Both these Apps are already to go with most all the gauges already programmed in (you do need to import the Ford PIDs for Torque, but it comes with them and is simple to do).

There really isn't much to compare between these two and SGII, other than SGII takes way more to set up and is all text based and limited to 4 gauges at a time. DB or Torque are graphical, customizable, will do all sorts of other things like log the gauge data you select for any trip or time you want, you can set alarms, have multiple gauge types some which will show the hi/lo for that trip, and on and on.

Regardless of what you choose, there are knowledgable users here to help you with all three...

Diesel Dan, I hate to say it, but I'm not smart enough for a smartphone. I still use a cheap wally world flip phone. I'll probably go with the scanguage. Thanks for the input.

This is what I'm using with TorquePro and FORScan. Works great.

Thanks Mike for the link. What is the FORScan if you don't mind me asking?

FORScan is a Ford specific OBDII diagnostic program for Microsoft Windows operating system. It's currently in "Beta" testing and is free at this point. It works pretty well. All you need to use it is an adapter for the OBD connector at the vehicle. They use an ELM interface and are available with a wired connection (between the truck and the computer) Bluetooth, or WiFi. Many are available on Amazon or eBay for less than $25. Check the ELM version number to be sure and get the latest version, newer is faster refresh rate.

My name is Eric , I think there's a half dozen or more of us on here.

I like this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002PY...5057422&sr=8-1

Although it is a wired connection. The included "OBD Wiz" software works on most vehicles in case you need to use it on something besides a Ford.

I was the same way until about 1 1/2 years ago....

I bought a Scangauge first, then started hearing about this Torque Pro thing. I installed Torque Pro on my phone and thought...this is awesome, but I couldn't place all the gauges I want on the screen. Then I bought a 7" tablet....voila. I love it.

My view of the Torque Pro on a 7" tablet

Ditto to cornstar: I actually think you have to be more technical (careful) entering all the SGII gauges from scratch than it takes to run either of the other two. You might want to check out the price of a 7" 'droid tablet like Money has done -- that is where I am going next as well: just can't decide if I should step up to a 9 or 10 inch screen (live big!).

Maybe after Money shows some screen shots you'll be ready to jump in. I also think my phone is smarter than me, btw...

My view of the Scangauge. Nothing wrong with a Scangauge, I still use it. (other than ugly, but it's functional)

Is that mounted to your visor? Or better yet: what mount have you found works best?

It's a Ram Mount suction cup to the windshield bought at Amazon. It's the only thing I've used for the tablet, so no other mounts to compare it to.
