DEF fill interval
What is the time table? When I picked up my 2014 a month or two ago... the dealer did not go over this.
Also when should I dump the oil for the first time on this? Thanks

Depends on driving style, towing, city, etc. Usually around 1000 miles per gallon of def seems to be the norm. My tank would last oil change to oil change when I was using the stuff.

What he said...
As for initial oil change, varying opinions.... if it makes you more comfy to jump the dashboard reminder, go for the "1000 miles before heavy towing" interval, or the ole "3000 mile oil changes" interval, before letting the dash tell you when it's due
Oh and where are the pics

Will I get any sort of prompt when the DEF needs to be refilled (in dash)?
I will eventually get around to the pictures... took some, but havent had time to update FTE gallery with them

Yes, it will give you a 600 mile (I think?) reminder.

I get about 4600 miles between DEf fills on mine, half towing half not, all highway.
It will go lots farther if you aren't working it hard.
And you will get a low level warning at 500 miles to empty.
First oil change is up to you, I let the dealer do the first one since it was free at 5K, then I have been running them at a 7500 mile intervals since.

I seem to get about 5K for a complete def cycle.
There is a 800 miles to empty then it counts down..If I recall around 300 miles it counts down constantly.
Most dealers don't have the def completely full upon purchase so you may need it sooner.
I do 5k oil changes, a lot go by the minder though.

I guess the low level warning works differently on XL's or XLT's without the fancy display screen between the tach and speedo. Base trucks don't get the DEF warning until 500 miles to empty.

A small truck stop a short way north of me(Corrigan TX) has it at the pump for $2.18.
Price at all Loves truck stops is $2.69 a gallon.
I've never bought a drop of DEF except from the bulk pumps at the truck stops.
