This will be my first build thread so take it easy on me guys, this pickup was sold to me as a 47 for five hundred buck, I posted recently about the vin and was told the truck is actually a 46, I ordered a mustang two front for it which should be here at the beginning off the week, a trianglated four link for the rear, new wiring and she will be receiving a 2003 5.3 LS engine that will be converted to be carburated with the MSD, truck will also be placed on full airride suspension from chassis tech, I believe we will just be wet sanding and clear coated going for the patina look, I know the patina bagged look is not everyone's cup of tea but atleast she won't be rotting away anymore
I think you are a brave man! Good luck with your build. I'm a big fan of patina and original paint, lowering, not so much. Best thing is there is no official truck resto police. We get to do it our way, the nay-sayers get to take the hi-way!
Well I was gonna have the frame sand blasted but I ended up talking to a local body shop owner and was talked into a different route, tried a product call oshpo that I picked up from the hardware store, all I had to do was knock of the heavy rust spots and brush on the oshpo and let sit for 24 hrs, I came back the next day and the rust had turned into a hard black supposedly paintable surface. So I tried spraying some industrial black enamel and I believe it turned out great and difinty saved some cash
