I bought my 99 long bed with a set of fifth wheel rails. Since I don't have a fifth wheel, I finally took them out. I also picked up the cut bed liner and cleaned up underneath it. I was worried it would be a rusty mess, but it is in pretty good shape. Anyway, I do really tow or haul anything. How should I fix up the bed?
I have a snap down tonneau cover that I hate and is a royal pain to do anything with, and a nice diamond plate toolbox, but it sits lower than the bedsides and is just ratchet strapped in. I worry about someone walking off with it. To use them both at once makes the toolbox very un usable.
So roll on, new plastic liner? What's the best bed set up? Also thinking I'd like a camper top.
If she's a keeper I'd go Line-x. Water can't get under it, you don't lose valuable space along the sides like you do with a drop in, it is VERY tough, and will simplify installation of a cap.
I enjoy the best of both worlds. Cap on the '03 with a bedslide inside and line X and heavy rubber mats in the '11 with a over the rail toolbox. It's the luxury I allowed myself when I bought the '11 last year. I kept my '03 I've had for nearly a decade because I couldn't bring myself to sell it for what someone would pay for it.
Still use a trailer to haul anything messy though. Can't be marking up the fancy newish rig. Lol.
