heater core question

heater core question

I'm in middle of taking dash off and can't figure out how to get right side loose.it is completely blown apart and right side just won't budge.oh I have a 01 expo.god I want to knock ford engineers out.$1000 for A $80 part so you can be human and have heat.this is absolutely bs.just ranting...

Are you replacing the heater core or fixing the blend door, or hopefully both so you never have to do this again?

The dash doesn't need to come all the way out. Just pull it away enough to access the blend door and heater core. Cut the tubes on the bad heater core with a short hacksaw for easier removal and push the connected ends through the firewall to take them apart. Do not over wrap the replacement heater core with foam or you will create problems for yourself.

This job is a PIA but doable. Stick with it.
