Hi Im new to the Forum. Im working on a 55 f100 and was wondering if there is a seal where the fender bolts onto the bed? If so does anyone have a link where i could buy one? Bed is getting painted next week and don't want to be missing it if there is. Thanks
pic of my truck im working on.. not a show truck but i like it
Looking at my catalog it appears there is a fender welt that goes between the fender and bed. There are several options, black vinyl, stainless steel and rubber. These are from the D.C. catalog.
The trucks came from Ford with the fender welting however, most people opt to leave it out when they redo their trucks. If you have a black truck then black welting would not show that much but if you have a lighter colored truck then the black welting could be an eyesore...that said, others will chime in and say that they like the contrast, it's all what you prefer. One thing I will say is that if the fender does not fit flush to the bed/body then leaving the welting out will expose a poor fitting body panel.

Effie Trucker is correct in his above post. These trucks did not come with welting between the rear fenders and the box. They did have welting at the front fenders however.
Thanks for the clarification Abe...I just checked my books and there is only a reference for the front "seal" (fender to cowl). I wonder why Ford felt the need for welting on the front and not the rear fenders?

Yes what they said, no welting, however, they came with what I call anti squeak. All panels including rear fenders had this silly putty looking material to reduce squeaks. Any body shop supply should have this
