Ahh makes sense. That's a good thing you didn't spend your own $ on them and find out the fitment issues. See in your sig you mention CNC apprentice how long have you been in the machining trade?
March 2013. I've basically been teaching myself at work. Have to wait another year to get into school.
HIO did you get a starter blanket for your oem starter yet or do you even plan on using one? Looks like that starter will be getting heat soaked.
Nope not yet... I'm hoping not to but am ready and willing if necessary. It's only that end is close unlike other header styles where the entire case gets heated up... There is lots of free air so I'm hoping that factor staves off heat soak.
The LBB project is on hold until I get one of my rentals tenanted..... been working on a 'should-do-list' while it is up on ad. I've been showing it to folks the past couple of weeks but the candidates are sucky.

Hahaha... I am wondering how many fellow FTE'ers "get" that.
Tro.... I'm rather picky on choosing a tenant. The guy needs to be somewhat handy with basic stuff... not a total noob on domestic maintenance, ya know?

Nice trade to get into. I know my way around a CNC I've done diagnostics and maintenance for years on them.
HIO your right about the headers being way better then most not caging in the starter. I'd say you'll probably be ok but something to check after the first fireup/drive

10-4. I'll be doing some local road tests before the long honeymoon.
I bought the cheapest headers made, Flotech and they fit without any issues whatsoever.......true I have to dang near pull the engine to change starter but there are no hammer marks anywhere.......and I was able to hook them up by myself with a little help from a cutting torch on the cross member.....

It is my understanding that Dynomax still offers all the bits and pieces for exhaust systems but no longer makes headers. I don't recall where I heard it but the tooling supposedly was sold to .... Hedman.

I don't believe they would pass as perfect fit without any issues whatsoever if you needed to use a torch on the crossmember. Even if it was just for ease of installation. But that's just my view on it.

Point taken, however, they were already installed. Just couldn't run the exhaust pipe to the mufflers w/o bending pipe or cutting crossmember. I chose to do it myself and cut out the crossmember and reinforce it from the bottom side.

Touche, these are actually cheaper than that......Flotech, lol sorry. I'm not advocating everyone run out and buy a set but for the $$$ they are what I went with. Now, if I drove the vehicle everyday I would probably gone a different, safer route......
This is correct. We offer all the parts needed (in general ) to build your own headers, and make your own exhaust system. But that is a skill set that many don't have. We had our headers made by another company ( and honestly I don't recall who, it was way before my time) but I still get people asking me about them often.

Just put hooker competition on a 2 wheel drive 352. Holy crap, what a pain! And the starter!!! Oh, my aching back! Finally got it, and they work just fine. My advice, get a mini ahead of time, and don't waste a lot of time, like I did, and make the big starter fit.
