Help Identify electrical plug in...
Truck has four places to plug in electrical devices. Two on the dash and both of those work fine. It also has two on the center console, one on the rear for backseat passnegers and one inside the center console. Both of those have never worked. Ever. I checked fuses one time and all were ok and that was the end of my investigation. I didn't worry about it since the two on the dash worked and I'm never in the back seat.
Last week I was cleaning the truck up and discovered this...

Those are pictures of the passneger side of the center console, at the bottom, between the seat and the console, that is an electrical plug in that nothing is plugged into. I took it to Ford dealer today and they said that wasn't for the outlets. OK then, what is it for? Everything on the passenger seat works which is power and heated. I can't find any loose wires under the passneger seat.
I need to know if that is for the outlets in the center console. If so, it was never plugged in and of course the Ford dealer will find another way to get out of fixing it for free.
A "how-to" on removing the center console would also be nice since I bet the wire that plugs into that is under there somewhere.
Thanks guys and gals

I was thinking only a part of harness. No actual power points and no harness under the carpet to the console. The console maybe a sub-assemble where to minimum built has a partial power point harness in it.
Unbelievable....
Today I finally had a chance to go out there and take another stab at it. I took it to the Ford dealership to have them look at it, they got one of their genius techs to look at the plug in in the pictures above and they assured me that wasn't for the power points, it must be something else. And for an outrageous fee they would be happy to look into it for me.
Let the adventure begin...
So that's why I couldn't get the center console out, there's two bolts under the cup holders along with the two bolts at the rear. The Haynes manual omitted this little tidbit of information. it's a real pain getting those cup holders out without breaking them, amazingly, I pulled it off.

The "easy to get" rear bolts

A better picture of the plug in on the side of the console now that it is out

So let's see what is under there? Could it be, is that a plug in that....ISN'T PLUGGED INTO ANYTHING???

I BELIEVE IT IS!!!!

But surely it isn't to the power points, it still has a protective plug covering it?

That's all the pictures I took, sorry, but I was sweating my butt off in the garage.
Long story short, took off little protective thing, plugged it into the console plug, and WAAAAAAAALLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH they both work now.
Ironically, I also had my wife go with me to Ford with her Mustang that just ran out of warranty, the rear window defroster wire fell off, AGAIN. Passenger side last time, driver side this time. They told me who fixed it last time (I guess Ford dealers can't get the top secret adhesive needed for this) and that they paid $60 to have it done under warranty. So they would do the driver side if I wanted to cough up $60. My wife took it to the place that did it last time, a mile down the road from Ford, and paid $30.
Want even more irony? This same dealer is emailing me wanting to service my new F350 I just got. I know nothing about diesels, and the thought had crossed my mind to let a dealer handle it instead of spending a lot of time learning and interwebbing everything about my new toy.
This dealer could have spent 30 minutes on my truck, $30 on my wife's Mustang and left me with a really good impression of them, one that would've probably led me to take my new truck to them for maintenance and repairs. Good job Ted Russell Ford.
I would like to thank them seriously for two things, I now know how to take the center console out of a truck that I'm fixing to sell and will never need to take it out again. And this gave me an opportunity to vacuum between the seats really good. An impossible place to get to with the center console in there.
