About 2 weeks ago the power steering pump went out on my 2008 F-250. I took it to a dealership and they replaced that and also need to replace the gear box. When I picked it up, the truck was making a humming noise and the brake pedal was vibrating.
I went out of town, it was driven maybe 200 miles during the last couple of weeks. On Saturday, the brake pedal went to the floor (luckily while pulling into a parking lot). I had it towed back to the same place. When I opened the hood the master cylinder was broken and a nut was missing (missing as in never put on, not broke off).
My question is this: to replace the power steering pump and gear box on this model, does it require doing anything to the master cylinder? Do they need to shift it slightly? Take it out completely? Anything?
I am just trying to figure out if this is the mechanics fault, or a legitimate fluke. I don't trust them to tell me the truth about it.
