roller questions, i know again.

so from my understanding, there are push in( pedestal) and screw in(studs) for our heads.

the pedestal, are from 84 and newer correct?
they according to rockauto, are 5/16 size and only have threads on one side hince they are pushed in.

the older ones are 3/8 or 7/16 and screw in correct? but rockauto shows a 1983 with the same stud and p/n?

i have an 85 head. what do i need to run rollers?
keep in mind i already have some, chevy 1.73 steel with bronze guides.

i havent torn the head apart yet( i bought it built, with the rockers in a box, has the stock set up installed.)

i know it has the 135 closed seat pressure( im taking the inner spring out and should see about 115. ( i know f250 restorer had this issue and broke the studs, i planned on removing the inner whether or not i run the rollers.)

im trying to figure all of this out BEFORE i get back from deployment next month( my father is going to look at and send me the info on the rollers and the box and any p/n that includes) so as soon as i get back i can drop it off at the machine shop and have her finished up and broken in, then take leave and motor swap! so i could ask him to pull the valve cover and pull a rocker, but im sure you guys can figure what studs my valvetrain is from the pictures and info i already have included( will add)

i do have these pictures of when he placed them on the engine just for giggles.

obviously they rollers dont match up correctly on the stock pushrods. i have an adjustable pushrod set to the proper length so if i went that way i could already know the proper length

this is how my springs and "studs" look.

and my purdy valves!

any all clarification will be greatly appreciated

what are the "tabs" on the back for? im uninformed

keep in mind, i may or may not run these whether or not they will fit due to my high compression ratio and already having 1.94/1.60 valves with a rv cam, i dont want to hit, or even be close( however the rhoads lifters i have sitting in a box, might could help with that since they would compress until i hit high rpms, however if they are close, those high rpms and a collision would result in a very bad day...and me using my 240 head shortly afterward on another motor...rather not do...im rambling now sorry!

"If you have a 84 and newer head: A pedestal mount 300 head can use stud mount rockers if you use a pushrod guidplate conversion kit. I have intsalled it on my 90 cyl head and it all works just fine. Crane part number 36655-16 will give you 3/8 studs and guideplate for 5/16 pushrods. If you go this route hardened pushrods are not required becuse the kit has nylon inserts in the guidplates. I had to mix a couple of kits on mine cause I needed 7/16 studs for BBC rockers I already had. It is best for long life of the nylon inserts if you polish the pushrods to make sure there are no burrs on them. This is easy to do in a drill.
This conversion kit will also make your valvtrain adjustable."

i got that, ive read that a hundred times, but i cant tell a difference between the two, unless i physically see why one is pedestal and why one is stud, from my thought process, i have a stud( meaning a threaded on both ends with a welded nut in the center) is that not correct?

so what does the push in look like?

im basically asking for pictures of both styles.

Yes that looks right as long as the studs are 7/16 if your using the BBC rockers

It's torture man! Yeah work and being away sucks, but not driving my truck, and doing a motor build combined with a 5 speed swap just sitting at my house, waiting for me, is hands down the worst part lol

Thank you for your service! And I should be back in time for the end of the beach season...Where I'm stationed at the ga/sc border and surrounding beaches, are ..Well awesome in the summer

May I ask where you are from good sir?

Also would you happen to k ow the dimensions on the stock pedestal rocker arm?
