So thought I was going to change a head gasket today but when I pulled the intake manifold I found a different issue. It turns out that the gaskets that you "have to use" from edelbrock do not completely cover the exhaust cross over. There is an 1/8 inch gap at the bottom of each port that isn't covered. Oil leaks down those ports and burns in the exhaust. I was getting smoke only on the drives side because that port is further back and oil leaks more to the rear. So they recommended some different gaskets and are going to make things right on my end. Hopefully they will change how their gaskets are made for the future. I will update once I make the gasket swap.

Thats good news - sort of. You stated earlier on that you were losing coolant somewhere. Hopefully when the intake issue is resolved you don't experience anymore coolant loss and the white smoke is gone. Sorry I missed the phone number in earlier post.

Where is the oil coming from that leaks into the intake port? Are your valve covers leaking oil? Something still doesn't sound right to me but hopefully intake gasket does the trick...Also sometimes when they re-srface heads it changes the angle of the mating surfaces between intake and head where the intake gasket is supposed to seal. This is usually extreme case but also was not aware you were installing edelbrock manifold. If I have time I'll call you later...

So I finished the intake gasket swap today. I used a Fel pro set rather than the edelbrock one that didn't cover at the bottom of the exhaust cross over at the heads. It certainly stopped the oil from burning out the exhaust so that's good. I still seem to have moisture coming out of the pipe with a bit of smoke but it dissipates after running for a bit. I also still have low vacuum fluttering at about 13. I have read that swapping cams can drop your vacuum quite a bit. is this why???? I will continue to keep an eye on fluid levels and hopefully I don't have another issue.
