Can somone post a pic of a highboy frame,I am missing 2 rear cross members, and even if I have to make them,I would like to get them close.thankyou or diagram
Thanks RedRoad.Great help. The cross member im missing is parallel with front rear spring hanger, and the other member that you move if installing a rear tank.Im thinking I could take 3x5x3/16 tube and split it down length wise and make 2 hangers, weld some 3/16 plate at ends, and bolt her up.Does that sound sufficient? or locate original
The forward memeber of which your talking about is really nothing special but for the trucks with an auto trans ( don't ask me why) there was a brace that ran from the bottom of the back of the transfer case to a right angle plate hung from the cross member of which you speak .. So designing it to brace the divorced transfer case is not a bad idea .. The rear gas tank cross member needs to accommodate your gas tank support straps and maybe some partial trailer hitch mounting other than that yeah a c-channel design would work fine .. There would be another cross brace forward of it for the front of the rear tank for your tank straps to mount to .. However you design it make sure it includes an easy way to drop the tank later .. You may want to include a skid plate depending how vulnerable it is .. Happy fabrication ! .. This is the fun stuff
Thanks again RR,mine is a manual, and I will be putting cross brace off of T/C. A Big thanks goes out to BenBuilder for looking whats left of his hb frame, unfortunatly all gone. This site has some great people.Happy Memorial Day.Thankyou to all who served. I think Im going with the aero tank without tabs welded

Thanks and your welcome .. The aero tank is a good choice It's funny I just pulled home a 1976 highboy chassis that I hope to have complete so I can move inside this winter .. Putting a 390 auto in it .. Have the motor and trans done .. This is not a bad choice either http://www.summitracing.com/parts/jz...1/applications
