I discovered I have TWO oil dipsticks on the 460 in my '83 F350. There's one in front of the engine by the distributor and one on the left side going down to the oil pan. Which one is right???
Your pan should be a rear sump so the rear stick is the one that should get used.
Yes, I don't see the front even going in all the way unless they cut it off and stuck it in the tube. If it is in there maybe they jammed it in there and it's curled against the oil pan.

Look on both dipsticks for their stamped ID number, post what they are. The ID number will be similar to this: E3TE-6750-AB
