Well just put down 100 bucks to hold my new used truck. 1986 Ford f350 Crewcab long box manual 4x4 with the 6.9 only 89,000 miles. Yeah I know I thought this thing has more but I got the full history. The guy I'm getting it from got it from his brother in laws dad who got it 5 years ago from the original owner. Sure there's typical rust but still solid and rock solid drive train. Engine cranks over better than my Honda. Lol. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
Its not much now but it needs new gas lines. The guy I'm getting it from has a boat tank jerry rigged with a new electric pump. I don't care because I'm going to turn it into a biodiesel truck. The test drive was smooth sailing. All original except for the jerry rigged gas can but hey it starts every time. And well pleased.
Nice!
My dad had a 87' with the same 6.9....the thing that drove him nuts was the water seperator for the fuel system would not stay sealed and give some hard starting at times. Not often just enough to be a hemroid. The bigger issue was finding out that that was the problem.
I always thought that a turbo would "wake" the ole 6.9 up really nicely. Its pretty good pushing itself around...but tie a few tons behind it & it runs out of gumph pretty quick.
