Got a lot of repairs to do. Just wondering if I forgot anything? I'm gonna do the oil cooler and anti freeze flush first. Got the cooler and gaskets, antifreeze, new oil and filter, every tool I could think of. Next is the hpop and lines, got a fuel bowl reseal kit, ipr reseal kit; do not have the gasket for the resvoir lid yet, but the old one has some seepage. Wondering if I should get the hpop gasket that goes between the resvoir and the hpop? I can't believe the price of just gaskets these days! Got a fluid damper ordered, a mellen lpop and a very big torque wrench that I did not have. Never done this before and I could use any pointers tricks that you guys have learned.
I am tired of sending my truck to a dealer and it coming back in worst shape than before. So my only option is do it myself and know that it is done right.
If your using the green [ethylene glycol] you need some additives, also plenty of distilled water, there's a good article on coolant maint. look above in the read first section.clean cooler & block good, people have got leaks from less than perfect prep.
The Melling LPOP is easy-peezy, as is removal of the OE harmonic balancer. Installing the Fluidampr is a bit uncomfortable, for me anyway. It's just very tight fitting (as it should be), and I recommend following Fluidampr's instructions and using some Moly grease as lube on the damper and the crank snout.
212ft/lbs is also a treat. We broke our cheap flywheel holding tool attempting. I'd recommend carefully using a large pry bar on the flywheel.
You'll dp fine, it's actually a pretty fun and rewarding job to complete.
A really good mod to do is to drop the tank, remove the screens and modify the fuel tubing. Search for Hutch and Harpoon mod on the site. An external course filter makes a lot more sense than that piece of ---- in the tank. It also can reduce air bubbles in the fuel system which can erode the injector plungers and nozzles.
Tyler, I use to live in the Hagerstown area and did electrical work in the D.C. area for quite a few years. I even wired up the McDonalds on the dual highway. Those reels of cable in your picture look very familiar. Larry

Nope I went with Evans, ya, expensive I know. I like the idea of no water hitting the metal.
I have more trouble with understanding computers than fixing the truck! When I sumit a post I end up searching the thread I was in. Yep I ordered the disconnect tool for the HPOP lines. It's not quick enough when you have to lay across the hood lock. Seems after you get past 55 everything hurts more! Thought about building a platform to go around the truck, maybe two foot high.

Yup know what ya mean ! Old age and short legs make for some hard work on a SD.
When I swapped my turbo I cut a piece of plywood about a foot wide by roughly 4 feet long laid it across the engine and that was what I laid across to do the job. Trying having your truck lifted 8" on 38s even though I'm 6'-1" it's still a pita

Ha! Small world, eh? Our family business contracts work from BGE & Pepco, in fact we do about 90% of the underground high voltage cable replacement on BGE's system. Funny seeing someone reference the dual highway on here!
