It sounds like you have the running light wires and brake light wires at the sockets switched. Good call Ross, I'll switch them and see what happens sometime soon.
That spring has broken its way out of the switch, the whole switch was
cracked and destroyed. Sounds like that part is fixed now. I can't believe Napa actually had it in stock!
Does the ground cable from the battery go to the block? It should.
It does. And the new one I installed goes from the manifold on the other side of the block to a bolt through the frame (#4). Is the solenoid enough to ground to the cab as you mentioned yesterday? I don't have anything from engine to cab currently. Thanks,
Ross- Once again, you're the man! Brake light/running lights were switched at the light assembly. Thanks again to everyone who helped out on this! You guys are great, and I'll be needing plenty more of your expertise I'm sure. Hopefully other folks can use this to help them in the future as well.
Ross, or anyone else for that matter; have you seen a solenoid like this. the company I bought the "kit" from sent me another solenoid the other day and it wasn't like the first. It has the I terminal, which is no big deal, but it also has this little jumper wire. I'm not sure if I should leave it on or not. I'm also unsure on which way it even mounts....... The terminals aren't marked and plently of google searchers have yielded little. When I mount it with the writing right side up it appears upside down as far as terminal location and outside design. Any thoughts? If not, no big deal, I'll just hook it up and see what happens. I will likely not put in the jumper wire on the first go around.

I would call the "company" that sold it to you. Experimenting with battery voltage is a sure way to end up with fried wiring or worse. It is odd looking anyhow. I'd send it back just because of that.
