This is for a short bed, but I guess it also applies to long beds; Do the step and fleet side beds exchange bolt for bolt or do you have to move some of the mounts?
I helped a friend swap out the flareside box for a styleside on his swb. It wasn't complicated. We're not very smart and we had been drinking too. Fly at it!

These are Chebbie/GMC beds. Ford: Flareside & Styleside.
The 6 1/2' & 8' Flareside beds are essentially the same 1953/79, but the wheelbases are different (1953/60; 1961/66 & 1973/79), which means you have to drill new mounting holes to install on 1967/72's.
Also, if you say flare side to someone who isn't a Ford fan, they have no idea what you are talking about. Every other model truck on the road has adopted the step side label. It has become the common term in reference to this style bed. It is no longer just a Chevy term. Purists and true fans know about the Flare side label, but so many others have no clue. Share and spread the knowledge, but try not to be harsh or negative when doing it.

2x yup step side just a common term that's used for some type of utility vehicles with a step. Still means the same thing..
