Hey guys I was getting a grinding noise coming from under my 250 and crawled under to find both sides seals that go on the front 4wd knuckles were just hanging there. I'm not sure what they're called or how to even get to them but I'm pretty sure it's my problem. You can really here it when you hit a bump but just normal driving isn't to bad. Any ideas or write ups? I couldn't find any but not really sure what I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated.
If it is the seals I am thinking those are dust seals. They are bad about popping out and just riding on the shaft.I have not heard of anybody talking about them making noise though. Most do not bother with them until we do ball joints.
Is it a clunking noise when you hit a chug hole or bump?
I can send you a write up to look through on changing the seals and other items to do while you are there.
It's definitely a metal on metal rubbing noise. I did find that my yokes aren't spinning freely. They're catching and I can barely turn them a quarter turn without catching. The hubs are unlocked
OK so on the way home from work I also noticed a clunk and clicking noise when hitting bumps as well. I'm not sure if this narrows it down or broadens the problem. Lol
