Time for a new plan

I finally got my 60 kind of straightened out, 6cyl cleaned up adjusted and running pretty smooth, no major oil leaks, clutch hyd all replaced, temp tires on and sitting back on the ground, it's starting to look like it may be on the road this year after all. I thought I would look at CL for a little entertainment, the first thing that pops up is this 59 4x4 conversion only 40 miles from home. That close, I have to see it, dang, my truck is pretty solid, but this much better. It's a 59 half ton on a later and heavier chassis, sitting too high for my taste and it has (supposedly) a Jasper rebuilt 460 with less than 5K miles and has been sitting for 10 years w no trans. At first the 460 and the shortbed throw me off and I leave without the truck. As I thought about it I realized that the condition of the body and the 4x4 conversion will save me countless $$ HAH! Long story...after a little negotiation and getting the 460 to turn over it was mine.

Anyone familiar with these axles, the PO bought this already done from another PO and didn't know anything about their origin but thought the whole chassis was Ford, can't tell from the pics but the front axle has closed knuckles. Also a pic of the cab support.

That certainly is a solid truck for the rust belt! You can never have to many trucks.

Jeff, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, truck is a friends farm. I was out there this morning and took some measurements and pics. Not sure what the seats came from, but the brackets look factory to me. I sat in it this morning, I'm 5'-10" and it seemed it could have been a bit higher for my taste. Pics don't show clearly but front brkt is 4" rear 3". Hope that helps some.
