NP 435 removal

I am trying to remove a NP 435. I have the 4 bolts removed that go into the clutch housing and the two have separated. The shifter has been removed by taking out the 8 bolts. It starts to slide off but stops. What am I missing. I do not want to have all the gears fall out on me. Thanks.

Could be hanging up on the throw-out bearing. Support it with a floor jack if you have one then keep wiggling it.

Yep hanging on the throw out. A tranny jack really is the best tool for this. Will save your butt on the install as well.

Just curious, why not drop the bell housing as well at the same time?

Is it a four wheeler? If so, is the rear tc adapter housing still on it?
Figure on a two wheeler it's there and no prob, but sometimes guys take the tc adapter off. If so it is possible to grab the output shaft (especially if it's stuck) and pull. If you do that then gears will fall out.

It is a 4 wheel drive. And the Transfer case is removed. So I believe I need to keep the output shaft in tight while I wiggle the transmission until it comes out. I will retry tomorrow. Thanks

Ok
Don't know what you have but the output bearing is held in by the tc adapter on a married adapter.
Other wise if you have a divorced tc you're prolly fine.
Good luck
