I need to know if my differentials are posi or not. the door tag is worn and doesn't give the necessary information. but there are tags on the diff. themselves. is there something certain i can look for on the tags? and if i don't have posi, how hard would it be to install posi differentials??
(same gearing)
Look for an "L" in the number. It will say like...3L08 3L55 4L10 or if you don't have limited slip...it will look like 3 08 or 3 55 or 4 10

Just to clarify, posi is a GM term, use limited slip (LS) instead. Installing one should cost you about $600-$900 depending on the type of LS and how much you pay for labor. The gears will have to be re-setup after installing a LS. If you got an ez-locker, you can do it yourself for around $300.
