i started noticing on my 2008 ford escape awd hybrid this sound about 2 days ago. when i turn to the left or right it makes a loud click sound i can feel it thru the steering wheel and i even felt it on the floor by my feet while driving. it only happens like once every time i drive and when i drive and i hear it i try to drive around in circles to figure out what it is but no luck duplicating the sound. any one got any ideas?

Reason: 2008 ford escape awd hybrid
No click in circles tells me it might not be CV (certainly worth checking though).
Put it on a lift and check the suspension pivot points for wear, and include the anti-sway bar bushings.
Not being able to duplicate it makes diagnosis difficult.
i installed my tow hitxh and wiring, i failed to check in the engine bay to make sure nothing was getting caught, the steering colum joint was catching on the wire for the hitch wiring, the loud click was probobly the zip tie snaping.... i felt like an idiot..lmfao
I had the same problem; replaced the steering knuckle..problem gone. The knuckle is behind the firewall. It is a pain to do but if you search the Internet some kind person has posted instructions with pics to replace the part.
