Figured I'd join in an give some folks a chuckle...
I have a custom built PROSystems 780 on a 302 that has been stroked a bit. Running .67 lift, solid cam - shaft rockers. For an average day I have calculated I get 0.3 MPG.
Of course this isn't with my truck, and an average day consists of wide open 8000 rpm's for 1/4 mile, mild rpm for 1/4 mile back on the return road, then off to cool, Repeat. haha. And that's Trick racing 114 octane fuel at 9.60 a gallon. Usually make 6 passes in a night and will drain a 10 gallon fuel cell.

That is an excellent way to prove that quoting MPG without stating the conditions and the equipment is fruitless. These trucks have horrible aerodynamics and running 70 will return quite a bit less than running 60.
Here's an idea, drive on freeways looking at your rpm's, not speedometer. I drive around 60, humming along at 1600 rpm. I get passed by many pickups screaming at 3200 rpm
Never run a 302 in a truck, but my 94 150 2wd with a 300-6/4spd auto got 19 mpg hwy at 65, my understanding is a 302 gets better mileage. My truck was fuel injected, but 10 seems low for even a carbed 302. Is your engine in an F100, 150, or 250? 2 or 4 wheel drive? Regular cab or Super cab? Auto or stick? Overdrive? If we know that stuff, might give us a better idea where you should be in regards to mpg. And, as previously stated, speed kills mileage. As do auto trannies, 4wd, and heavy trucks...
I wouldn't say auto trannies kill MPG. But I would say C6 auto trannies kill MPG. Back when Rusty sported an NP435 he would turn in 14.25 @ 62 MPH. I haven yet gotten a good read on all highway since he converted to a C6, but it can't be any better than 12 as he's getting more like 10 in combined city/highway usage.
However, I would think an AOD would be a very different story. With a lock-up torque convertor and OD it would have to be better than a C6. Perhaps even better than an NP435.
