1979 Chevrolet paint code location
Its a 1979 El camino, but the body by fisher tag doesnt list a paint or trim code. The Accessories that are listed dont even match up with any codes when I viewed them from the GM heritage site for the 1979 El camino.
Does anyone know where the code is located at on the car? Looking at the paint chips the closest match would be Pastel Green but I want to make sure before I order a 12 oz can.
I am trying to post this on an el camino message board but I have to wait till a moderator approves my profile and activates it which can take god knows how long.
~Update~
Well I am making a long leap here but considering I cant decode any of theses "accessory" codes which is in the same format as the accessory codes is on my '63, I think the 40L and 40U is this plants way of saying the Lower body and the Upper body is the same color, color code 40 which is Pastel Green. I just hope this is correct as I just spent $38 on a 12 oz can of this paint in aerosol along with a 12 oz can of clear to protect it. Probably wont match perfectly but I rather not have the repair this fly by night parking lot warrior did turn to pure rust. Car will be painted at a later date just dont want to cause all this rust and would like to get rid of the unsightly hole that the ******* created by using the antique slide hammer dent puller. Too bad I wasnt driving the car cause I would have declined but the person driving the car was taken in by the sob story and now I have this to contend with.
But its not all bad, I been hearing bitching about the rust spots where the paint was chipped so I can brush some paint in those areas smooth it out and shoot some clear on it as well.
