h&s mini maxx "initializing communication"
Hello guys,
Wondering if anybody has had this issue. I just bought the mini maxx and it turned on asked me to select my vehicle and now for hours its said "initializing communication". Im stuck here. I updated it, checked all ports and everything looks good. Anybody have this issue?

Yeah, I though that was it so I turned off and started the truck many times and nothing... I just looked at it now after leaving it alone for another 3 hours and same thing. I cannot figure it out. Very frustrating since I paid an obscene amount of money for this little guy.

Seems to me you might be missing a file, could try a full sd download, or the hdmi cable or the block is no good.
How do you have it wired in, maybe just use the switch on the block to power it up and see what happens?
I hear ya on the price, I would give H&S a call, they are very helpful. Or make a post here, someone else might have an idea or sometimes h&s techs will answer as well.

I've only had trouble with my mini once, after updating my sd card it wouldn't load properly, I had to do a full download and its worked without a hiccup since. Not 100% sure if that would help you or not, maybe talk to them first

Yeah but theyre closed and I already have the dpf dropped. And I use it for workk... so im kinda in a pickle. (I know im an idiot for not testing it first) yikes

oh boy, looking on the net, you either have a bad block or missing files, I'm thinking bad block from what I've read, no buddies you could borrow a block off of?

Im gonna erase the sd and start over... maybe thatll work... and no sadly I dont. And I had my bully dog tuner from my old dodge and I just sold it last week! But im gonna try starting fresh

I had to erase the SD and do a full download when I first got mine. I would just about put money on it that's your problem. Easy to rule it out anyway. You can do it online from H&S and all the instructions are there.

I been trying to do just that... and when it was going, it says theres not enough room to fit all files... did you have that problem as well?

Does it ever go into gauge mode or does this occur when you try to do 'Install Download'?
If it shows right at startup into gauge mode, then you actually have an OBDII comms problem. If it's stuck at a certain % then likely a file is corrupt or missing on the MicroSD. I've had to figure that out on 2 friends' mini maxxes that were doing that on an update and it turns out they somehow didn't copy all the files or were trying to do it in a strange format. Needed to fully format the SD with a FAT filesystem and load in the complete .zip file as provided on the H&S website. Then load, then add MCC custom tunes back in as required.
