Junkyard SCORE!

Today I went back to the junkyard to finish getting parts for the 93 Explorer mud truck(swap auto to manual tranny). After procuring the rest of the parts I wandered around and found a 86 F150. The inside was excellent shape!

The dash cover is NOT EVEN cracked!! Speaker hole is complete and not falling apart! I have not seen one like this in 20 years!

Visors excellent shape and the seat was faded but solid and no rips or any major problems. Got the almost new looking door handles too. The metal floor rails good shape too.

Even the radiator support is good shape, might get that too.

Are they going to give you a title to go with the cab? You had better at least get some paper work verifying where you got it. Some junkyards are not too concerned where they get their vehicles. The smart ones like that will not sell you the cab. Once you take the cab(and thus the vin) out of the yard the vin is not in their control. If you take the paper work and the vin to get a title for it, you may find someone has been looking for the truck, a bank, the previous owner(whose ex wife sold it to the junkyard without telling him) etc. You never know what scenario you could be involved in, and if you go back to the junkyard then they might be in trouble.

I hate to be so negative about these things, but it does happen. Have you already talked to them about getting the cab? They may not sell it to you. Or maybe they have a clear title to it(keep your fingers crossed).

Round here the scrap yards wont even take a junk car for scrap to be shreaded unless you have the title in hand to give with the car.
