My 77 F250 with a 460 is missing the radiator shroud and also has a bad fan clutch. Rather than replace those items I believe I'll install an electric fan. I may occasionally do a bit of towing with the truck. So my question is this: Should I buy a single 16" fan or a double 12"which is way more expensive?
The Fan above would be the cheapest route to go for a E fan setup. I do have a dual fan derale setup on my 77and it works great, but not cheap. Also keep in mind that large E fans use some amps, so an alternator upgrade may be in store for ya. I have a 110 amp alternator on my 77. My dual fan setup uses 50 amps total.
Screw them dinky fans.. get the monster Lincoln Mark VIII or T-bird fan. It'll suck a cat flat to the grill:
X2. That's a proven unit as evidenced by its popularity. I was hoping to use one on my truck but I don't have the space for it. As far as the cost goes, I picked up two of them a the PYP for $24 each on 1/2 price day. I gave one to a buddy for his rock crawler project and it works great.
The alternator upgrade is a must if you haven't already done it. Look up 3G upgrade, it's a cheap and easy way to add a 130 amp unit.
More info about it....
Lincoln Mk VIII two-speed fan, Taurus or Lincoln cars
A 95 Mercury villager minivan with a 3.3L V6. The stock radiator for this thing was a gigantic three core all aluminum radiator
However, the fan for this was a gigantic 19" two speed fan. This thing is massive. Bigger than a mark viii.
If anyone's interested, I did some research the 92-2002 Villager is a rebadged Nissan quest.
