I agree on the u joint. I had that happen on my truck, the wheels were jerking back and forth. It started out feeling like a wheel bearing, kind of a faint vibration. Then it got much worse. If it goes on too long other parts will fail because of the mechanical stress. When you think about how a bad u joint in the driveline feels, it kind of makes sense. Larry
Im probably going to go to the store and pick some up now I've never had to deal with axles before do I need to take the front diff cover off and take anything off or will the axle slide right out and right back in
If the axle hasn't been apart recently you may destroy the knuckle seals getting them out. If the joint is that seized its probably destroyed the needle bearings the shaft rides on. I'd pick one of those up too, they're cheap.
To be clear.. You only need to replace the side that's seized.
my wife said that my pass tire was doig a wobble motion and that is the side that i just put a new wheel bearing on twice already and i need new dust seals on the axle tube as well
Ok so I am going to go get a ujoint from the store do I need to take the front diff cover off and loosen anything in there for the axle to come out or does it pop right out and I can leave the diff alone
Thanks for the video one thing they dont show is that there are little retainer clips that hold the ujoints in spot took me awhile to figure that out cause it was rusted so much but I have it soaking in pb blaster I have one cap that is frozen on hopefully it will free up by tomorrow morning so I can finish up and anyone know where yo find a good set of hubs mine on the driver side the plastic ring on top broke and the retaining ring was out as well ill get a picture of it in the morning thanks for all the help guys
