I know the Hurst part was discontinued for the m5od, but I found this on eBay today. A little pricy, but what do yall think? Only reason I was looking is my stock shifter is sloppy as can be and moves around a ton in gear.
Stumbled across this when I was looking for them, I know I had seen people talking about it in the past. Thought I'd share.
Well, I'll add my $0.02 USD..
I paid another member $150 for the one he found me one in a JY. that included shipping; Looking back, was it necessary? Absolutely not.
Was it worth it? IMPO, YES. My ENTIRE range of 1-2 shift is now literally what 1-N used to be. And it re-aligns itself over 3-4. instead of 1-2 like a stock one does.
And the fact I take a trip or 2 a year to Clay City to play around, makes it even better.
Not to mention it no longer bashes the 44oz speedway drinks out of my cupholder...lol

Random bump but solid info. I need to decide if I'm going to go to a zf5 down the road.
That is the ONLY reason I've not really felt the need to swap to a ZF, and that's the simple fact that I can't re-use my Hurst shifter.
I'm going to need a new tranny when I do a 4x4 conversion and I'm going to use what I can get but I'm also wanting to build an engine way down the road and I need something that can back up a built engine.

Just a random thing to add...
The factory clutch disc for the 4.9l version of the M5OD-R2 is a 10" setup.
The Factory setup for a 5.0l M5OD-R2 is 11".
If you have the flywheel resurfaced, you can swap to a 5.0l clutch disc (Both has the same mounting bolt pattern, etc...It's just the pad portion is 1" wider) and you'll gain "Holding power"..
I should've did it when I redid my tranmsission 4 years ago; But alas, I did not.
But I do know that if I feel the need to swap discs, I'll be doing the 11" "Upgrade".
Do not ask me why there's a difference, because I have 0 idea.
I actually researched this a while back. Gives you the option of using a heavy clutch too if I'm not mistaken. I got used to the spec stage 3 in my mustang that gave me a workout when I drove it.

My clutch only has about 10k on it.
Mine has approx. 40,ooo or so...It's been in there 4 years now.
I would love to do an upgrade when the clutch pad starts wearing out, and get more holding power and more grip.

Grip is good. I'd like to have a 500 ft lb 351w with a spec stage 2 behind it and a nice limited slip front and rear and some good tires. There would be few places I couldn't go.
