i just bought a nice set of 20inch rims and now i need to lower my expo, does anyone know wher i can find a system or anyway of slammin my 97 V8 expo? any advice would be appreciated. thanks
Lowering an X is an easy process. You lower the fron of an X by loosening the bolts on the torsion bars. The back is done with regular blocks. Usually costs around $25.00 plus the time to do it. But once you lower it, you need to go have the front end aligned.
You can get roughly 2-3" just with the torsion twist and blocks. Going lower than that (and done right) requires some fabrications and a lot of work.
I have a 2001 mountaineer v8 5.0 and I wanted to install airbags, so I can lower and raise it when I need to. Do you guys have any ideas? How low can you drop it? I would like to keep the same ride height for going off road, and lower it on the highway.
Let me know what you guys find out about lowering the Explorer ! Mine is also a `97 5.0, i`am wanting to slam it and start to race it. There is a guy on this web-site who already has done this and he has detailed pics. & specs. He drives a sweet two, look for him. Really great info. And yes, check out ExplorerExpress.com~~ it`s da bomb !! Bagg`n it would be the way to go , if you had several thousands dollars laying around.
Explorer express does have the stuff you need for lowering, but if you want an airbag suspension you will need to fabricate the mounting brackets. about a $2000 to $3500 job.
