I have a 1990 ford f150 with the 300 inline 6 I'm having a problem with the charging on it I have a good battery and new alt but there is no charging going on with it I took the battery to have it charged and I was told it was good and even had the alt check and it was putting out. I went thru all the wires and did not see any bad wires or fuses is there anything that I'm missing I did not see a fuse block under the hood and I'm lost with what I can do checked all the ground wires to the frame and even cleaned them
Did you just get this truck or is it something you have had for a while?
Did this problem just appear out of the blue?
Have you done any other work on the truck recently like change the gauge cluster?
There is an exciter wire plug on the pass fender... mine was green/ orange striped.
It may be unplugged. It basically gives the alternator a 12v signal when the ignition is switched so the alternator will allow output to the battery for charge. Easy thing to check....
My wire happened to be broken and it needed repaired before I would see 14v from the charging system.
