Bought a used television company van last week to make into a camper style, and have found out that all, and any, work they ever needed done was always through a dealership at there town. It has only 129,000 miles on it, and runs very strong.
I have found the original build sheet, and owners manual as well. I would like to know if there is a way to decipher the build sheet?
I have looked some of it up via a vin number checking website I came across-which I will include here if anybody wants to do what I consider a small vin information check on a vehicle-nothing in much detail really.
Also, where can I find the square air intake replacement hose for this thing?
Cacher, I'm learning as I go here so I'm almost no help, but I bet that truck is in pretty good shape mechanically. The one thing I do know is a lot of the parts on these older versions are junkyard items.
Maybe if you post a pic of your square intake hose. Regardless, enjoy the ride.
Hey Standalone, don't know what parts you need but mechanical parts to keep her running are available just about everywhere. I should have been clearer in my response. I was referring to things like the big plastic airbox, bumpers, mirrors, rearview mirror, trim pieces, grills, lenses, etc, etc.
I'm just an enthusiast here, the big boys pipe up if it's really technical. V-Dude.
eBay is a great very wide area resource for "older vehicle" parts. Its always great finding parts in our own area code but sometimes that's not possible. If we really, really want a part we're have to occasionally dole out a few more dollars for good stuff.
You should be able to find one of those intake hoses at an auto parts store. You may have to fiddle with it if you can't find one with the little plastic lever that "locks" it in place.
When in the J yard, looking for engine stuff, 1986 is about your cut off date. after that they were fuel injected and just about everything under the hood changed.
'83 is perfect. It still has the Dura Spark II ignition. Last year for those.
Search for how to recurve the distributor. Well worth it.
Check the recurve / rebuild photos on this page. This is for a 6, an 8 is no different inside, except for the trigger wheel. Classic Inlines - Duraspark II Swap
