I recently replaced the fuel line going to the lift pump, and while doing so I knew I was going to have to purge some air from the schrader valve. I turn the key after installing my new line and it fires right up, only to die a few seconds later. So like always i purge the air from the valve while I have my dad turn the key and stop when diesel comes out. I try to start it and it still shakes like its air locked. so I crack all but one injector but no fuel came out of the injectors at all. So here is all i know: I am getting fuel to the fuel-water separator, i am getting no fuel after the IP. I am guessing that my IP is filled with air? am I correct? If so how do I bleed it? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kyle.
When I r/r'd my IP, I had to crack the injector lines and try and start it for about 30 seconds and wait a few, then do it again until I had fuel at the injectors. then tightened them all up and it started. it took a little time running to work the air out.
^^^agreed, I like to pull all the lines I can get to easily and put a piece of paper towel under them, then crank it until you can see fuel on the paper towel. Crank them back down and turn it over and it should fire. It might run a little rough until all of the air is worked out of the lines, but it should start.
