Im looking for the whole thing and it looked liked the picture in the first link bolts same side as driveline i was hauling a trailer when the axle broke then the the tire went out the back broke front bolts in bumper and truck went quite aways draging on the vaccum plate or pressure plat whatever that thing is called you attach the brakes to it grinded about 3 inches off of it
i was looking at one on a 57 somebody had made it into a trailer it looks the same as mine except mine has shock braket in front and the 57 has them in the back i was just going to weld them were i wanted them i just dont know if they would interchange.
That there would be the Ford 9 inch rear axle. Famous, known as "..the poor man's quick change", as that drop out carrier makes gear changes a snap. Used in NASCAR, even in the Toyota car. Used in drag racing, all kinds of racing.
Used in all kinds of pickups too. Produced '57 to mid '80s.
AFAIK the Uni is the same width chassis as others of the same era, so I would think any F100 '61 to '66 is a possible donor for all parts.
Others here may be able to steer you to other years that share the same width and spring pads etc.
The brake backing plate is what you are talking about.
So you need it drum to drum and probably a few other parts as well.
You may have troubles finding a true drum to drum bolt in, but as long as you find a housing, you can switch your thrid member over, and your axles and the one good brake if all those parts are sound.

You can do that. Check overall width and spring pad width.
Check that housing for "true" also. You dasn't want a bent one.
thank you kind sir for your help it is appriciated i might just go to the junkyard and see if i can find a drop out that will fit but i hope i dont ever have this problem again.
I know this is a little late, but is the metal tag still under one of the bolts? There are people here that will decipher the code on it. Worth a look. The warranty plate on the drivers door gives much of that info if it the original. Good luck
Well with this insight i think ill go ahead and buy the one of f the 57 I've measured drum to drum and spring to spring and I'm on my way to pick up the 57 i just hope they have all the parts at the parts store i want to get. Once you remove the axles it should come out.....might be stuck to the gasket. try tapping around the edges with a dead blow hammer or similar. Don't use a hard faced hammer, you can crack the casting.
Thanks for everybodys help the 57 rear end fit perfect i had to go get new brake parts but im on the road again think ill be driving pretty slow for a while the steering in the front seems a little harder to turn now. again thanks
