Alright so i got a 302 bored .030 over an im trying to dial the timing in, Ive never timed a motor before so this my first time. I found tdc at 10btdc I cranked the motor an the initial looked like it was in the 20's with the vacuum advance blocked off, soo what do yall think the best initial an total timing is for my setup?
Specs:
Edelbrock 600cfm 4-barrel
Comp Cams thumpr cam Duration 291/311, Lift .540/.526
World Product hi-po heads (not sure on specs)
MSD Pro-Billet Ready-To-Run Distributor vacuum advance
Its a hydraulic roller setup
I dont really know much more, had a guy build it for me thats been building race motors for 50 something years
truck specs (if it makes a difference)
82 f-150 flareside lifted 9'' on 36's
C6 Tranny
4:88 gears
You did get it running? I would set it at 12 BTDC to start. As you get everything worked out, you can go back and experiment with it some more. You have a MSD dist, so you have lots of things to play with as far as the timing.
