how big of a trans cooler for f150

as of recently i found out that my transmission is getting too hot when i tow, even an empty trailer with some wind will make it too hot, anyway looking at trans coolers and i have maybe a dumb question, how big is too big, or big enough for an f150. i was looking into this kit

B&M 70264 B&M SuperCooler Transmission Coolers - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS

along with this guage

Auto Meter 6549 Auto Meter Digital Gauges - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS

another thing, does the cooler kit have the required hardware to hook the cooler in line with the in tank cooler? or does that require special hardware?

I'd recommend a larger cooler than that. Out of the selection of B&M plate type coolers that Jeg's offers, I'd go with this one: B&M 70266 B&M SuperCooler Transmission Coolers - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS

Either one of those coolers should do. Remember, you should have a trans cooler built into your radiator so you do have some cooling effect now.

Realize that, at absolute best, the heat exchanger built into the radiator end tank is only able to reduce the temperature of the warmer fluid to the temperature of the cooler fluid. It really doesn't do the transmission any favors, other than assisting the fluid in reaching operating temp sooner.
