Ok, I was recently in a wreck. I was on my way to go camping and my rear drivers side tire fell off, twisted my bed, crushed the fender and twisted the bumper. It was my tire shops fault because they didnt tighten the lugs down all the way, so my dad talked to them and they agreed to pay for the new rim and brake hub. But, I still have to find a new bed and bumper. I was wondering if it was possible to fit a flareside bed where my old bed is. It is a 1995 F-150 L6 300 SWB. I would guess that the bed would just fit right in where the old one was I was just wondering about the flareside and if it fits and all.
I believe the dreaded lawyer would be finding all the parts and money I needed to fix it up like new with a little extra to spare for loss of use. Agreeing to replace the rim and brake hub is an admission of guilt. The reason I say this is because almost the exact same thing happened to me. No body damage but my tire and rim went through a glass store front. I didn't pay a dime and got everything repaired with just a letter from a lawyer.
Your insurance has nothing to do with it - it wasn't your fault. The tire store's liability insurance is going to pay for EVERYTHING, including loss of use, psychological trauma, and punitive damages (depending on your local laws and how good your lawyer is). In any case, they should pay for 100% of the physical damage to your truck, including the labor to fix it and a rental vehicle while yours is in the shop.
I think it should fit, but with possible modifications to fuel tank and possibly fuel lines?
Either way, I just wanted to toss in my opinion on legal actions available to you.
You have admission of guilt from the tire company.
Your insurance company can help you file suit against them, even though you only have liability insurance, so go talk to them and tell then what happened. it should all be free for you.
Luckily I have always caught loose lugnut situations before they got scary, but have had it happen no fewer than 3 times from various shops.
But go get em. Don't put a dollar of your own into the truck. This was not your fault.
Liability insurance covers you if you decide to mow over a kid, or run into someone, but it also helps you file suit against wrongdoers (i'm pretty sure)
At least check in with the insurance company and let them know what's up. Because this is the same in a sense, as someone running into your car (in which case, your insurance company would seek payment for the damages if it wasn't your fault)
SO anyway...
just my rant against incompetant businesses.. One more tick negativity for this consumer
