Ok well I posted my 06 duramax for sale for a high price and oh shnikes someone bought it. This leads me to this forum because I'm looking to buy one now. Will be be my daily as well as my tow truck. I hear run away from the 6.0s, get the 7.3. I'm no lead foot but like to have some power.
Drove a few, the first one was all twitchy and beat. The second one lived buy the beach all rusted. Seems no body like to keep them clean I know there family trucksters but man have some pride in your stuff.
What should I be looking at buying used?
Will do the few basic mods like shocks sway bar maybe helper bags for towing. Lift if it doesn't come with one.
Any advice is welcomed, don't want to get a piece of **** when I had a perfect truck.
hard to have pride in the interior of a truck that hauls 7 or more daily and 5 of them is kids spanning 3 years to 14 lol .. when i only had two kids the truck was cleaned 24-7 .. now i just stripp it once a year and hose it out lol .. once the kids are gone or in their own cars then and only then will it get a refurbish lol ... i havnt seen the floor in about 4 months
No 6.0 unless you want to throw a lot of money at it.
Buy one from the south with no rust.
I understand it has to be a diesel?
There seems to be 2 groups selling.
First one has low mileage excursions that look very good but they ask a premium.
Second group is the higher mileage sellers who sell for what it's really worth. If maintained normally they should still have a lot of life left in it. Ask for service records.
Ya I know about the kiddies I have two boys and they use the cars like jungle Jim's / those bar and grill where you throw the peanuts on the floor. Ha. Going to check out another one to day. Has 180 on it with a new tranny from ford dealer. Ill let you guys know what happens
Well check engine light was on carpet looked like it had a tsunami of Capri sun spills all over. The under belly had oil leaking. Some good dings and scratches on the body. Other then that owner says its in excellent condition.
Why does the front wander so much on these?

Worn out front suspension parts. Ball joints, wheel bearings, steering box....
I know you are a deezle guy and all but have you considered the V-10?
Plenty of power, tows great, lousy mileage, awesome reliability, cheap to maintain, smells better, cheaper to buy and 2 more cylinders! Seriously the V-10 is a rock solid motor and makes plenty of usable power, I pull an 11K TT with ours and it does just fine, even in the mountains.
260,000 miles and need a torque converter? Seems a tad high with the miles/trans issue. Just my opinion.
when you are looking for a particular type of motor you expand your search area ... is what im getting at .. there was one for sale for the same price but it was immaculate
