I'm still looking for a replacement for my Bronco II. I was wondering if there are any special or desireable trucks I'm not aware of. Sort of like how a 1965 Mustang GT compares to a regular Mustang.
Mercury trucks are fairly desirable, I have only seen a few. I hear that 1972 F100 customs are VERY rare and worth hundreds of thousands of dollars..... Ok, maybe a few hundred....
Now that is a bumper! Bet it takes out saplings no sweat.
I would say 68-72 Crewcabs and 78-79 Broncos are very desirable for trucks and would always sell for what you bought them for originally if you bought at a reasonable price.
I wouldn't know. That truck has been modified in so many ways its hard to tell whats on it. I know the alternator is a NAPA replacement, so is the starter and a horde of other parts. It also has a battery switch so you can prevent the electrical system being drained.
I don't know yet. I would like to get a newer truck with a diesel engine, so I put this one up for sale. A few people looked at it, but I knew they weren't that serious, and were going to run it into the ground. Not to mention I have found the newer trucks to be a bit on the high side, so for now I am going to keep it.
Unique Trucks?
In the 60's Ford made "uni-bodies" for a couple of years, where the bed and cab were all attached (no seperate bed). The ones with wrap around back glass nd uni-body would be collectable!
2cents!
Short wheelbase, fullsize and seats five in comfort, straight axle Dana 44 front, Ford 9 inch in back, power disc brakes front, power steering, can easily be lifted, good Duraspark system without too many emissions vacuum stuff, nice plow vehicle, with 31s pretty decent off-road.
I don't know how diserable it is but from what I have found its pretty rare. My new project is a 1979 F150 Super Cab 4x4. The main thing that got me with this truck is that it is a leaf sprung front end which made me very happy. It also came with 16" wheels that seemed kind of odd but I don't know if they were stock. The truck is basically a 3/4 ton with a 9 inch rear end and a 5x5.5 bolt pattern.
Its coming along nicely so far, new brake lines, brakes, rebuilt motor, serviced the tranny, and the lift and body work is soon to come.
