Well I put the new FICM in . Thanks Ed at FICMrepair. Great product. I went with the Atlas 40 tune and what a difference! Unfortunately there is still a slow start issue in the morning when cold. IPR 84.7%.....ICP 110... In the past in the morning when cold is when it started the fastest..I haven't timed but it probably cranks for 4 or 5 seconds before it cranks....Thanks
While I realize this is normally a problem on the 03'-04' where the shaft seal leaks on the HPOP and allows the HPO reservoir to empty while sitting over night. I would try parking with the truck nose down and see if it starts easier the next morning.
Well, I did the blue spring upgrade finally (have had the parts for a month or two) and parked it with the nose downhill, theres still a slow start issue..What next? Look for codes? I have a scangauge? Will that help anymore?
"Dummy plugs". Sorry, but which ones are the dummy plugs? The huge plugs on the ends of the rail?
Since the oil rails can be used on either side of the engine there are 2 standpipe ports and the dummy plugs go in the ports not occupied by the standpipe, on the late 04' they have a square opening in the top so they can be removed with a 1/2" drive ratchet and the 05' and up take a 10MM hex bit to remove them and the updated plugs take a 12MM hex bit.
By what you have explained so far by your ICP and IPR values during cranking you definately have an HPO leak, faulty IPR valve or ICP sensor. Or electrical connector issue. Have you unplugged the ICP sensor and tried to start?
Ok, I haven't done anything since the blue spring upgrade the other day and the truck is starting fine again. No prolonged crank time. It just starts right up.

No. I haven't unplugged anything and tried to start. I was just getting my ducks in a row to do standpipes, dummy plugs and STC fitting. I was just praying the truck stayed running until I could do that.
