What do I have????
That would be nice but there wasnt any stampings on the pistons saying if it was bored over..However the bores still have a real nice cross-hatch pattern so who knows..BUT......
I'm taking the valves out so I can grind the seats because I'm puttin in new valve seals and i got the tool and the spring compressed all the way but I cant free the valve keepers. Theres like cone that holds the keepers in..How do you release the keepers?
Most of the time I put the pressure on with the compressor tool(like enough that it should come apart on a normal situation) and hit the side on the fork(retainer) with a hammer .Sometimes on the older engines with some miles they can get a little sticky.
To free the keepers, just get a deep socket that's the same diameter as the retainers and wack the socket while holding it on top of the retainers. Sometimes takes two or three wacks to do it.

Ok..Now that I know what I actually have!!! Heres some more questions..I'm coming from the "import" scene so I hope you are all proud of me!! I'm putting the top end of the motor back together and i come across a couple of things that im not to sure about..Here goes..
**The carb has an electric choke with + and - the plus is hot that i know and the minus is ground..I know i can ground it pretty much anywhere but where should I supply the power.
**By the way its a Holley 4bbl with vacumm operated secondary runners..When I pulled it apart the vacumm fitting on the carb for the secondaries was not atached..can I "Tee" it to another vacumm source?
There is no "vacuum fitting" for the secondaries in a Holley. The vacuum source for them is cast into the carb body. If you will remove the linkage rod under the vacuum body, and remove the screws holding it to the throttle body, it will come free and you will see the vacuum passage , it's got a cork "O" ring that seals it.The power supply for the choke goes to an ignition source. The basic hookups for the vacuum fittings should be to the distributor, PCV in the right valve cover, and one to the power brakes ( if it's got power assist brakes) The distributor fitting is the one on the rightside of the primary ( front) metering block. The PCV and Power brakes should hookup to the large fitting on the bottom rear of the carb.
