Looks like a light bulb. A oicture of how it was mounted may help. Was it wired in to a switch? or into the wiring harness? I have not seen anything like that on these old trucks myself. Bottom; from what I can see, looks to be newer than the 1960's.
Thanks for the replys. I found it laying on the fender after a drive. No idea where it came from or how. I can only guess it fell out from somewhere while driving. Another strange but true story......
I found it after a failed test drive. Rebuilt carb, new hoses, new belts, new oil and cooant. Went for a test drive and all was well. Decided to drive to buddies but needed fuel so I stopped for gas on the way. About 5 min later started losing power and barely got it back home. I suspected bad gas as all was well before the fill up. Drained gas and checked fuel filter. Put in fresh gas and still had issue. Checked points..OK. Looked down carb while revving and saw no fuel on one barrel. Popped carb top and found "stuff" plugging one jet........now running excellent. While doing this is when I found the "light/fuse" thing laying on the fender.
Looked like gasket material from rebuild. Sure did not take much. Part of the fun of a new project I guess. I have been through plenty with a full resto on my 1970mach1.
