confused

Trying to check the timing on my 85 f-150 the label ponder the hood states that I have to remove the single black wire close to the distributed I can not find this wire any help or pictures of this wire would be greatly appreciated thanks

still need help!!!

Where is the single black wire close to the distributor on the 85 f-150 efi?

You must have fuel injection or a computerized 6 cylinder? Just follow all the wires leaving the dist. As you follow them leaving the dist, you will eventually end up with one by itself with a jumper plug in the wire. Unplug this to set the timing, and then plug it back in when you are done. This takes timing control away from the computer so you can set the timing with the light.

Black wire, or plug? The wire itself I think is yellow and some-color stripe, but there is an inline jumper plug that you remove to set the base ignition timing, it'll look something like this:



Could be round instead of rectangular, it's called the SPOUT (for SPark OUTput) connector
