I have a 2000 F250SD with 96k miles that I purchased a few months ago. I'm pretty sure the fuel filter has never been replaced as it is rusted pretty good. I cannot get the fuel lines disconnected from it - even broke the metal quick disconnect tool from Pep Boys. Is it possible that the fuel lines are rusted and therefore making it harder to get off? Any advice on how to get them off easier?
Thanks. I was thinking about the PB Blaster but wasn't sure if that was ok to do on the fuel filter area. I'll go out and spray that on now.
And I'm glad to hear someone else has had one of those tools break. I specifically got a metal one so it wouldn't break. I picked up another style and I'll try that one.
they can be a pain i push my tool in while pushing and pulling the line back out tool should follow you once your spay has time to work push the tool in while holding the line a few times befor pulling should come
Plastic ones come in handy where you can push them in and then spin them around. Sometimes you need to use the metal and sometimes you need to use the plastic ones. I'd spray with penetrating oil for several days and spin the connectors each time.
Well, I've sprayed the connectors twice now and still can't get those things to budge. Maybe it's because I'm a whimpy girl. LOL I'll keep trying until they come off.
Very rarely does a fuel filter seem to go easy for me. I generally end up using foul language to work it loose. I have always used the plastic slip on tool; perhaps that is my problem.
