I have an 85 f350 4 door dually That originally had a automatic In it but someone did a crappy job at doing a zf5 conversion and i want to make it an auto again but i want to use a e4od i plan on buying a complete truck to do the swap but i have the dash out currently and i wanted to know because i have a harness from a truck that had e4od in it what wires should i pull and add so i can make this easier while its apart...
I also have to switch pedal cluster because someone really screwed this one up and didnt even put in the upper 2 bolts that hold the top to the cab
Unless I'm mistaken, E4OD requires an electronic speed signal; that's why the later trucks went to the Sterling rear axle with the VSS in the diff. That's gonna be your major challenge with controlling the tranny (and with operating your speedometer).
I went to usshift.com for my stand alone controller. You have to add a throttle sensor, with the stand alone unit you can speed from the abs sensor or the cruise sensor on the trans. They made a harness for me, mounting the e4od was harder than hooking up the electronics
When i do this i am buying complete truck.. The donor truck is an 89 f350 4 door srw with 7.3 in it bed and cab are kinda in bad shape but still a complete truck minus tailgate
