Break Time

Hey all, newby here. I have a 2006 f250, 4wd, 120k miles. Through total neglect and mostly laziness, i have not touched the brakes. They've been squealing recently of course and i now intend to redo the brakes. Im guessing ill probably need to replace not only all the pads, but also the front rotors and maybe the rear rotors as well. Agreed?

This is a daily driver. I pull a loaded car carrier trailer and a 21 foot ski boat occasionally.

I need brand name recommendations from you experienced guys. I don't mind spending more money to get really good equipment, as i love this truck and plan on keeping it a long time. I just do not know what brands you guys recommend to buy, and which should be avoided.

Thanks in advance, Lee

Usually the oem on all my trucks do the best. A complete inspection will be the best thing.

Once again I would suggest using an independent shop and listen to their recommendations. And those rotors may not need to be replaced, often they can be turned.

Hawk LTS pads and Cryoslot rotors up front, Hawk LTS pads and OEM rotors on the back. Pay close attention to the slide pins (probably just replace them), their bores, and the seals on the calipers.

Don't know if you have gas or diesel, but on the 6.0L the Hydroboost is run off the powersteering pump, you need to flush that out and put new transmission fluid when you do the brakes.
