OT - Rv tires

I'm about due for new tires on the 5er - What brand do you recommend - I had Goodyear Marathons on my tt years ago but I hear some not so good things about them now. I would like to buy U.S. made but they are hard to come by these days.

Understand Marathon's are mostly made in China, now, too.

I have been very happy with the Maxxis 8008 brand for my ST tires. Not made in China (but not in the USA, either).

There are four on my travel trailer, and two on an enclosed utility that I take high-speed cross-country every year.

Though all of them are less than three years old, I have had absolutely no trouble with any of them.

The tire guys use a "bead sealer" compound when mounting them, and use steel stems, also sealed with that goop. Then, they are balanced just like my truck.

I use a TST-brand TPMS, so should be able to detect a leak from a nail before it runs low and destroys itself from heat. Thankfully, that hasn't ever happened. It's GREAT peace-of-mind and, I think, a good investment!

As always, YMMV.

Been VERY happy with my Michelin XPS Ribs. Not cheap, but they hold air pressure so much better than I could ever imagined and if you go to RV.net and research tires for 5ers there, you'll see why I went with them!

What size are they? A quality light truck tire will give you much better service life than the chinese trailer tires.

I run BFG commercial T/A's on my 5'r. Load range E. Great tire for the price, also ran them on my truck for years.
Mich XPS ribs are top shelf. I have the XPS traction's on my truck now & what a tire! Toughest tire that I've ever come across.

I ran the BFG Commercial T/A's a couple of years ago, but they were recalled and the tire dealer replaced them FOR FREE with the XPS Ribs

I'm probably the only one here that likes these but I've had very good luck with Carlisle tires. Made in the USA

You got a smoking deal there...Mine were replaced with the same BFG Comm T/A's.
The four Comm's on the back of my truck were replaced with BFG All Terrains (my choice) & them replaced again with the Michelin XPS Tractions. (the Ribs aggressive brother) GREAT tires!

Same deal happened to me. Replaced BFG Commercial T/As under the recall with Michelin XPS Ribs for free. I have been happy with both the BFGs and the Michelins.

On a side note: I think I caused a bit of a stink the day I went in for the recall. They told me they had the 4 tires there ready for me. By the time I got there with the camper, the customer standing at the counter in front of me had gotten the last of the replacement BFG tires. He had reserved something like 20 tires for various vehicles/trailers. I asked them what they (Discount Tire) would do for me and they simply responded with, "What would you like us to do?" I of course had read threads on the internet about the recall and told them I would like to be upgraded to the Michelin XPS Ribs. When the employee said "OK", Mr. "20 tires" had to pick his jaw up off the ground. He then went into, "Hey...wait a minute...why can't I?"

Sometimes it pays off to be informed. I would have been happy with either tire...

Look for 235/85R16's. They are just a little bit taller, but it opens up your options for a lot of nice tires, like the XPS ribs or commercial T/As

I have had Tow Max on my 34ft Fiver for 3 years now and seem to be holding up well ! The Goodyears that came on the rig did not go well! First one I got lucky and spotted the baseball size bulge in the side wall while at a rest stop! 2 more just went flat in my storage shed! They are well priced tire also!I would buy again!
