About a year ago I started on my 1978 F150 4x4 with an i6 and a four on the floor. At a price you cannot beat, FREE! My dad is a policeman in town and went on a call and spotted this work of art under a leantoo shelter, he asked what they wanted for it and they said they were going to scrap it! He came home grabbed a trailer, got the title and truck and brought her home. Threw a shot of gas in the carb and she fired up.
Pulled the motor and resealed it, fresh clutch, new engine harness, and some other goodies, slapped her back together than went to work on the front axle. New U-joints and bearings. Picked up a bed and doors, (Came with an original deluxe topper! its forsale in perfect condition.) I bought a set of Mickey Thompson MTZ 33's on american racing rims, both in great shape for $600, all she needs now is a cab corner, shocks, exhaust, paint, radiator, and alternator! I'm going to have the badest truck in town and in the school parking lot. I cant wait to graduate from my '92 blazer to this beast.
Here she sits right, its tough at 17 to make a whole bunch of money for a project, but it shouldnt be long for her to be back on the road. The front axle is back in it, the picture was with it out
Take your time and enjoy it. The 300 is a good engine for both reliability and economy. Post up pictures when you can.
