adjusting float?

I was just wondering if someone could explain to me how you adjust the float on a carter 1bbl. Is it just a screw or is there something else that adjusts it?

adjusting float?

According to the rebuild kit directions that I just bought, there's a stop tab on the float that you need to play with. Which means you have to take the bowl cover off, of course.

adjusting float?

How goes it, your carb will have eather an "early" float or a "late", they are adjusted the same by holding the float and bending the drop stop or bending the arm closest to the float which opens and closes the needle and seat assy which determines fuel level in the bowl. The difference between the floats is how you measure the amount of drop and rise. You might spend the $8.00 and get a rebuild kit (you'll need it eventually anyway), the kit will have "detailed" diagrams depicting your type float, it will have a small plastic ruler in increments of 32's which makes it easier to measure float movement and most important it will have the 'correct' float level measurements for your year model carb! Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter and do this in a "CLEAN" well lit work area. Best of luck
