emission mods

I recently rescued a real clean straight ’85 (10-84) F 150 4x4 4sp that sat behind a barn at least 3 years. I’m thinkin’,,, remove all emission stuff, go with point distributor different carb etc. Emission testing is not a issue. Some specs are carter yfa,, tfi ignition. Any thoughts about returning that motor to like they were in the “good ole daze” are greatly appreciated.Nothing fancy right now the offy and edelbrock will come later. thanks

I've often wondered what they would do with the stock intake. Like you said - "nothing fancy"... EFI's and a Walker downpipe would fit right into the stock exhaust setup - minus the EGR. With a grinder and a drill you could fabricate an intake base plate (to close off the EGR design) fairly easily. Opening up the rest of the way back wouldn't hurt - all ready for Offy/Edelbrock... 2 1/2" single works GREAT for me.

A pre '83 carb would eliminate "feedback"woes. I'm '82 and don't know when (exactly) things were easier before that. Probably '70 something. Good luck.

My '83 had the non-feedback originally.
